THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
PHOENIX – HB2375 has passed the House on a vote of 31-24. It will now move to the Senate for consideration. The bipartisan bill balances the need for increased housing density while providing cities with tools and safeguards for guiding growth in areas of historic significance.
Aaron Montaño Searles, Save Historic Arizona Board Member, stated:
“We are grateful for the tireless efforts of current and former elected leaders, city officials, and concerned neighbors across Arizona who have spent the last several months raising awareness about this important legislation.”
“Today’s collective effort was a profile in courageous leadership and a victory for historic preservation. We especially want to thank Representative Matt Gress, Representative Aaron Marquez, Senator Lela Alston, Mayor Kate Gallego, Phoenix City Councilmembers Betty Guardado, Laura Pastor, Debra Stark, Mayor Corey Woods, Tempe City Council members, and Jim McPherson of Preserve PHX. We must also thank Representatives Cesar Aguilar, Brian Garcia, Cody Reim, and Stephanie Simacek, along with the additional members in both parties, who voted to advance the bill and continue the dialogue in the AZ Senate.”
“We at Save Historic AZ are committed to working with everyone on this legislation, even if they did not support it today. We have always known this would not be an easy endeavor, but we firmly believe that we can build Arizona’s future without demolishing its remarkable past by working together in a bipartisan fashion.”
Thank You,
Save Historic Arizona
